The Bruce R. Bistrian Nutrition Mentorship Award and Lecture award honors past president, Bruce R. Bistrian, MD, PhD, MPH, for his pivotal role in the advancement of clinical nutrition research and mentorship. The Distinguished Nutrition Support Service Award recognizes ASPEN members who have shown exceptional leadership and practice contributions that advance both the vision of the society and the broader field of nutrition support. This award is given to those with a sustained impact over time—typically requiring at least 10 years of service in the profession. It also considers contributions outside of ASPEN, such as volunteer work with other organizations.

The award celebrates individuals who have consistently demonstrated leadership, contributed significantly to their field, and volunteered their time and expertise to advance nutrition support services. Winners are honored with a $250 stipend as part of the recognition. Members can apply for the award themselves or nominate a deserving colleague.
