The Excellence in Nutrition Support Education Award recognizes a nutrition support educator’s excellence in the delivery of professional education within the field. Individuals have teaching responsibilities in an academic, community, or other supervised training setting.
- Must be a current member of ASPEN and have maintained membership for at least five (5) years
- Must have teaching responsibilities in an academic, community or other supervised training setting
- Possesses superior knowledge of nutrition support as perceived by students, trainees, peers, etc.
- Creates and/or uses innovative teaching/learning methods
- Demonstrates a humanitarian approach by teaching students to see patients as individuals and not just medical conditions
- Promotes professionalism by instilling a positive attitude and commitment to the profession in students and trainees
- Advances the science of nutrition support through clarifying, refining, and/or expanding the knowledge base of nutrition support, which may include:
- Creation of new practice perspectives of nutrition support
- Publications
- Research
- Incorporates evidence-based guidelines in curricula and nutrition support practice
- Promotes critical thinking in nutrition support education, practice, and/or research
- Previous recipients of this award, current members of the Membership & Engagement Committee, and current members of the ASPEN Board of Directors are not eligible for this award
