Live Webinar
November 17, 2026, 3:00 PM – November 18, 2026, 4:00 PM Eastern TimeParenteral Nutrition (PN) serves as a life-saving therapeutic nutrition modality that may be initiated in all age groups across the healthcare continuum when nutrition needs cannot be met by mouth or via the enteral route. Although life-sustaining, PN carries the risk of short-term and long-term side effects. Optimal PN efficacy and safety outcomes can be ensured by adhering to best practices and through close monitoring. Yet, despite the facts, several myths about the initiation and safe delivery of PN exist. This webinar series will dispel common myths related to patient conditions, PN components, stability and compatibility, and administration.
About the Course

Date: Tuesday, November 17, 2026
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
Part 2: Dispelling PN Product-Related Myths
Date: Wednesday, November 18, 2026
Time: 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM ET
Learning Objectives
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
- Identify common misconceptions about the appropriate use of PN and apply evidence-based criteria for PN initiation across patient populations.
- Evaluate appropriate PN use in patients with metabolic complications, including hyperglycemia and hypertriglyceridemia.
- Describe current evidence regarding PN-associated infectious risks and strategies that reduce catheter-related bloodstream infections and other PN complications.
- Describe safe and efficacious use of PN initiation in the home setting.
- Review various PN components, including calcium salts and lipid injectable emulsions, and explain how product-specific characteristics affect safety, compatibility, and clinical use.
- Describe compatibility and stability principles for PN admixtures and recognize factors that contribute to precipitation, emulsion instability, and medication incompatibilities.
- Evaluate the appropriate use of multi-chamber bag PN products, including activation requirements, additive considerations, limitations, and patient safety implications.
