The Peggi Guenter Excellence in Clinical Practice Award and Lectureship recognizes the multitude of contributions Dr. Guenter made to clinical practice, advocacy, research, and ASPEN. Recipients of the award have achievements and accolades that reflect their direct influence on advancing the clinical practice of nutrition support through education, publication, advocacy, and/or observational/quality improvement research, which may also include the nutrition care process.
Nominations are made by members of the Enteral Nutrition Committee, Malnutrition Committee, Parenteral Nutrition Committee, and the Public Policy & Advocacy Committee. The Clinical Practice Committee reviews the nominations and provides a recommendation to the ASPEN Board of Directors.
The recipient prepares and presents a lecture at the ASPEN Nutrition Science & Practice Conference and submits the lecture as a manuscript for consideration for publication in NCP.
2026 Peggi Guenter Excellence in Clinical Practice Award Winner

Marion F. Winkler, PhD, RD, LDN, CNSC, FASPEN, is an internationally recognized nutrition support clinician, researcher, and educator whose work has transformed the care of patients requiring home parenteral nutrition and management of intestinal failure. Through decades of clinical practice, groundbreaking research, guideline development, and leadership—including service as ASPEN President—she has advanced patient-centered nutrition care and elevated the importance of quality of life as a key clinical outcome. Dr. Winkler’s contributions have shaped nutrition support practice worldwide and improved the lives of countless patients and families.
