Unregulated Infusion Spas Deemed Hazardous Compounders

A recent Specialty Pharmacy Continuum article references a 2022 statement from the National Home Infusion Association (NHIA), the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), ASPEN, and other associations, expressing concerns about unregulated infusion spas. It reports that the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy confirmed in January that “any facilities in the state offering walk-in IV services must have a pharmacist on site, be permitted as a pharmacy, and comply with all standards for sterile compounding.” Read the full article here.
