About the Course

Many acutely ill adult patients are unable to meet their energy and protein requirements through oral intake or enteral nutrition alone, placing them at risk for malnutrition and its associated complications. Supplemental parenteral nutrition (SPN) can be an important strategy to bridge nutrition gaps when enteral or oral nutrition is insufficient. In this webinar, expert clinicians will review the evidence supporting SPN, discuss patient selection and timing of initiation, and share practical approaches for managing SPN in acutely ill adult populations.

Learning Objectives

  • Define and evaluate the role of SPN as part of the nutrition regimen in acutely ill adult patient populations.
  • Apply evidence-based criteria to determine when and how SPN should be initiated.
  • Discuss best practices for prescribing, monitoring, and adjusting SPN to optimize nutrition delivery and minimize complications.
