About the Course

This session will focus on new and practical, actionable updates in malnutrition and sarcopenia, covering developments in definitions, methodological standards, and treatment. It will provide an overview of assessment techniques for malnutrition, including but not limited to muscle health, for use across care settings, and discuss how these approaches fit within global consensus frameworks, including the Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) and Global Leadership Initiative in Sarcopenia (GLIS). The goal is to translate these updates into clinical nutrition practice and research to support more consistent identification, diagnosis, documentation, and monitoring of malnutrition and its related muscle and functional conditions, helping clinicians lead the change toward more precise, whole-patient nutrition care.

This non-accredited webinar is free to all.

Learning Objectives

  • Apply current cutpoints and practical tools/approaches to assess malnutrition and low muscle mass.
  • Describe updated definitions of sarcopenia and sarcopenic obesity (EWGSOP2, GLIS, SOGLI) and how they relate to GLIM-based malnutrition diagnosis.
  • Identify evidence-based treatment approaches, exercise, protein/nutrition, and emerging pharmacotherapy, for malnutrition and sarcopenia.
