ASPEN aims to ensure all published website materials align with ASPEN’s mission and meet the scientific, educational, and ethical standards of the Society.

The purpose of the ASPEN website is to promote the ASPEN mission through communication and education. Because ASPEN is an interdisciplinary organization, the primary purpose of the website is to serve diverse members of our community who are looking for deeper knowledge in clinical nutrition and nutrition support. It also serves to recruit individuals into our Society and into nutrition support clinical practice, advocacy, research and education.

Content Guidelines

The website is primarily dedicated to ASPEN-produced content, allowing case-by-case exceptions for external materials that align with ASPEN’s mission and provide significant value to the field of clinical nutrition.

The criteria below will determine whether content is appropriate for publishing on the website. All content must align with ASPEN’s mission, vision, values, and goals:

  • Improve patient care by advancing the science and practice of clinical nutrition and metabolism.
  • Promote safe, effective, and high-quality nutrition care.
  • Maintain high standards for clinical practice, research, and education.
  • Support research to advance the field.
  • Reflect honest, accurate, and principled guidance.
  • Support interprofessional collaboration.
  • Does not discriminate on the basis of age, gender, race, national origin, and ability.
  • Promotes health equity and the elimination of health disparities in patient care.

Furthermore, the material must:

Materials are accepted for publication on the ASPEN website based on their scientific and educational merit, significance, and suitability for publication. Ultimately, the discretion to publish website material remains with ASPEN.

Submission Process

All non-ASPEN material must be submitted in electronic format to ASPEN through the ASPEN Website Content Submission Form. Prior to submission, materials should be reviewed to ensure the criteria for publication are met according to the content guidelines above.

Review and Approval Process

All material will be reviewed within 4 weeks of receipt.

If revisions to the material are requested, the author should resubmit revised material with redlined changes and with a line-by-line response to the referees’ comments. If the revision is not received within 3 months from the last decision letter sent by the reviewer, it will be assumed that the author has withdrawn the material from further consideration.

If a submission is accepted, content will be maintained on the website for one (1) year but may be renewed for an additional period upon content review.
