A.S.P.E.N. Online Self-Assessment Program
Preparing for certification exams? Planning your professional development path? Want to brush up on clinical knowledge?
As a health care professional, you need to stay current in your field. New information and new research bring changes to the way you provide specialized nutrition support. Regardless of your learning need, you’ll find A.S.P.E.N.’s newly revised Self-Assessment Program a valuable resource — and you can earn CE credits!
The self-assessment is now available exclusively online and is accessible 24/7. It is module-based, meaning you can work with ease in one content area or in many.
Especially if you’re planning to take the certification exam, this new study tool shows you which content areas you should focus on for your exam preparation. The program includes a timed, two-hour 100-question practice test (also available separately) — test your knowledge so you can then purchase the specific modules you need! If it’s been a while since you took an exam, the practice test will also provide you valuable experience in a computerized test-taking environment.
Module-based for ease of use!
Once you’ve decided on which areas you need to study, purchase the entire program or only the modules you need. Modules include:
- Fundamentals of Nutrition and Metabolism: basic metabolism and physiology that are the foundation of nutrition support
- Nutritional Assessment: requirements and risks as well as drug-nutrient interactions and how anatomy and physiology apply to nutritional assessment
- Parenteral Nutrition:when and how to use parenteral nutrition, including compounding, order writing, and monitoring
- Complications of Parenteral Nutrition: metabolic, mechanical, and infectious complications and how to cope with them
- Introduction to Enteral Nutrition: when and how to use enteral nutrition, and choosing/using appropriate formulas
- Enteral Nutrition Administration, Monitoring, and Clinical Issues: tube-feeding initiation, delivery, and monitoring for efficacy and complications
- Condition-Specific Nutrition Support: use of nutrition support in 16 specific conditions
- Considerations in Nutrition Support of the Pediatric Patient: an overview of enteral and parenteral nutrition in pediatrics, with specialized support issues by disease state
- Considerations in Nutrition Support of the Older Adult: an overview of the issues involved in using enteral and parenteral nutrition for older patients, including complications, ethics, and end-of-life issues
- Home Nutrition Support: patient issues such as indications and complications as well as related topics such as reimbursement, training/education for the patient and caregiver, and support organizations
Each module has 40–60 questions and includes a pre-test, syllabus, and post-test on the questions answered incorrectly. A timed, two- hour practice test of 100 random questions from all modules is included with purchase of the full program and it provides a great opportunity to become familiar with the test-taking environment. The practice test is also available separately. Test your current knowledge to discover where you can use additional studying and then purchase the appropriate modules.
